Visura Site Builder Guide

For Photographers, Filmmakers, and Visual Storytellers 

The Visura Site Builder allows you to easily design, customize, and publish a professional portfolio website integrated with your Visura account. You can manage pages, projects, and design elements directly through your dashboard — no coding required.

Overview of the Interface

When you log in at visura.co/site-builder, you’ll see five main navigation tabs in the top menu:

  • 🏠 Sites – View or create websites linked to your Visura account.
  • 📄 Pages – Manage and create pages (Projects, Custom, Blog, etc.)
  • Design – Control layout, typography, colors, and visual identity
  • ⚙️ Settings – Manage your domain, SEO, and basic site information
  • 🔍 SEO Tool – Fine-tune metadata for search visibility. 

You can switch between editing, previewing, and publishing modes seamlessly.

1. Site Setup & Settings

Navigate to ⚙️ Settings in the main toolbar.

Here you can manage:

  • Site Title – Appears on browser tabs and search engines (70 char max).
  • SEO Description – Add a concise 160-character summary for Google previews.
  • Custom Domain – Set your DNS to use your domain (e.g., yourname.com): support.visura.co/custom-domain-setup 
  • Upgrade to HTTPS – More info is here: support.visura.co/set-up-https-ssl
  • Visura Domain – Your default subdomain (e.g., yourname.visura.co).

📍Tip: DNS propagation may take 12–48 hours after adding a custom domain

2. Creating Pages

From the 📄 Pages tab, click “+ New Page” to add a new section to your site.

You’ll be prompted to select a page type from the following:

2.1 Project Page

Used for showcasing galleries or visual stories.
  • Supports slideshow, grid, or scrolling row layouts.
  • Syncs with your Visura network projects (Public, Unlisted, or Editors Only).
  • Can automatically import project metadata and imagery.

📍Tip: Choose “Create a new Project” or “Select existing” to link to your Visura portfolio

2.2 Custom Page

A blank canvas for “About,” “Contact,” or fully custom layouts.
  • Editable text blocks, images, and contact forms.
  • Best for personalized storytelling or press pages

2.3 Blog Feed

Automatically displays blog posts, projects, or public updates from your Visura account.

2.4 Landing Page

Use for your homepage or category overview (e.g., Commercial Work, Editorial).
  • Flexible block-based layout that links to internal pages

2.5 File Drop

Add a page where clients or collaborators can upload files directly to you (useful for project submissions or proofs)

2.6 Product Page

Integrates PayPal cart support — for selling prints, zines, or other media assets.

3. Managing the Site Menu

Access Menu Editor under Pages > Site Menu

  • Add or reorder links for navigation (e.g., About, Photography, Contact).
  • Group unlisted or test pages under “Unlisted Pages” (hidden from the public menu).
  • Each menu item can link to an internal page or external URL.
  • Customize font (e.g., 14px Cabin), spacing, transparency, and hover effects from the Design tab

4. Designing Your Site

Under the ⚡ Design section, you can adjust your website’s look and feel.

4.1 Theme

Select a theme — e.g., Foundation 106 — that defines layout structure and typography

4.2 Logo & Site Name

Upload a logo (optional) and edit your site name or subtitle.

4.3 Page Styles

Customize:
  • Background color or image
  • Page spacing (default: 40px top margin)
  • Social icon color

4.4 Typography

Customize:
  • Fonts
  • Sizes
  • Colors

📍Tip: Typography and page styles should be set site-wide in the Design Editor. You can then customize each page in the "Layout" section.

5. SEO Optimization

Go to the 🔍 SEO Tool to configure:
  • Page titles & meta descriptions
  • Custom URL slugs (/about, /portfolio)
  • Image alt text for accessibility and search ranking
Each page has its own editable SEO fields, found at the bottom of the page editor.

6. Publishing & Preview

  • Click View Site to preview changes at your Visura domain (e.g., yourname.visura.co).
  • Once satisfied, changes publish automatically to your live domain or custom domain (after DNS sync).
  • Use Unlisted Pages for drafts or client previews before public release.

7. Additional Tools

  • Clone Existing Page: Quickly duplicate a layout or design pattern.
  • Restore Deleted Sites: Access previous builds.
  • Tutorials: Linked directly in the dashboard (e.g., “Create your first website”).
  • Support: support.visura.co offers step-by-step domain and design guidance.

Quick Tips for Photographers

  • Use a Landing Page as your homepage linking to categories like Editorial, Personal Work, and Motion.
  • Add a File Drop for client submissions or large file transfers.
  • Keep your SEO description updated with your name, medium, and focus (e.g., “Documentary Photographer based in Vermont”).
  • Utilize Custom Pages for “About” and “Contact” — add your email, bio, and social links.
